The analysis of research works on adaptation of students to educational process promoted allocation of the problem requiring its scientific solution, study of psychological-pedagogical features of gymnastics classes of 1-4-year students on the process of adaptation to the educational process in technical university.
 
The purpose of the present research was to reveal the effect of classes of athletic gymnastics on psychological adaptation of 1-4-year students to university studies.
 
Student period is most favorable for formation of psychophysical human optimum, when effectiveness of physical exercises on the body is quite high. Thus athletic gymnastics becomes an acute mean of health strengthening and formation of necessary psychological features for effective student studies.
 
The researches revealed that freshmen of the experimental group had better emotional balance and discipline, diligence and more volitional efforts than their fellow students from the control group.
