A.V. Gursky, associate professor, Ph.D., Smolensk state academy of physical culture, sport and tourism, Smolensk
Key words: control test, standard, physical fitness.
The matters of physical development of young generation in the country cannot leave indifferent both ones who work in physical culture, sport, and simply citizen. So who is next? The answer is clear - it should be harmoniously developed, physically perfect generation. But this goal is hard to achieve and requires daily work, but it is easy to transform into a physically miserable man, just yielding to temptations of the modern world: smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction.
Man takes the path of degradation both in physical and moral conditions. Unfortunately, the invasion of creature comforts in our life in the form of computers also takes time we need for occupations of physical culture and sport.
Monitoring of the level of development of physical properties of the population has always been in sight of both experts in the field of physical culture and doctors.
The purpose of the present research was to make a comparative analysis of physical fitness of modern students in context of standards of the All-union complex GTO.
It was proved necessary to return the complex of control tests to estimate physical development from primary school age up to adult population, as a standard base in the system of physical education. Pull-ups are most complicated in male students: 42,8% of testees failed the minimum test level, that makes think on power abilities of future defenders of Motherland. Slightly better indices in physical development of females are marked, but compared to historical standards, their indices are far from the requirements to girls 30-80 years ago.
