The purpose of the research was to form the content for distance education on the discipline "History of physical culture and sport", based on the studied materials, reflecting world and Russian experience on the quoted direction. Physical culture and sport as integral parts of the common human culture are essential means of formation of a harmoniously developed personality.
 
The documents reflecting world and Russian experience of work in this direction were examined in the research. The formation of the content for distance education on the discipline "History of physical culture and sport" was finished.
 
The main idea of distance education is in giving the student who has not enough of educative, methods and other literature the idea on the subject, materials necessary for studying the course, educative and control tests. As proved in practice, the materials on distance education fully promote complete mastering of knowledge and successful passing of the exam / test in the subject.
 
The worked course of "History of physical culture and sport" for distant education facilitates solution of the tasks of modernization of physical education in compliance with the new educational paradigm. The study of the theory of physical culture and sport provides for recognition of the priority of socially active, spiritually rich, patriotically incited and physically developed personality.
