Introduction. To date, in the practice of physical education in universities are actively used various areas of fitness, which comprehensively affecting all systems of the body of students, including creating favorable conditions for the development of coordination abilities [1, 2].
The purpose of the study is to identify the effectiveness of the development of coordination abilities of University students through the use of various fitness programs and approaches within the elective course.
Methodology and organization of the study. Experimental work was carried out at the Department of physical culture of Surgut state University in the groups of elective courses on fitness. A total of 41 girls took part in the study (2nd year of non‑sports areas of bachelor's and specialist's training). The experimental group (EG, n=19 people) was engaged in fitness aerobics in the framework of sportized physical education, the control group (KG, n=22 people) - fitness training (traditional construction of classes). As a test to assess the effectiveness of the development of coordination abilities in the classroom, students were asked to repeat the dance combination of movements demonstrated by the teacher (recorded the number of attempts used, but not more than three).
The results of the study and their discussion. Testing conducted at the beginning of the academic year showed that out of 100% of girls KG and EG, participating in the study, the first time to accurately repeat the dance combination could not none, the second attempt in EG coped with the task 37.2 % of students in KG-41.6 %, the third time 36.7 % of girls EG and 35.2% KG successfully completed the task. It should be noted that 26.1 % of participants EG and 23.2% KG could not cope with the task.
At the end of the academic year, positive dynamics was observed in both groups. However, EG girls coped with the task significantly better compared to KG. the Number of EG students who completed the task on the first attempt increased by 15.7 %, while in KG only by 5.2 %.

Conclusion. Given the high popularity of various fitness programs among girls of student age, we consider it appropriate to use them for the development of coordination abilities. Great efficiency in the process of experimental work was recorded in the classes on fitness aerobics, implemented in the framework of sportized physical education.
