Objective of the study was to identify the morphofunctional characteristics of underwater athletes specializing in swimming in long-distance, sprint and underwater disciplines.
Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work involved underwater sportsmen aged from 18 to 25 years (15 young men and 15 young women). Each sportsman is a member of the Krasnoyarsk Territory national team and has a sports title of at least Master of Sports of Russia. The following methods were used in the work: the method of assessing anthropometric indicators, the method of assessing morphofunctional indicators, the method of mathematical statistics.
Results and conclusions. Athletes-underwater swimmers specializing in long-distance disciplines fit the second morphofunctional type of physical development (MFPTPD) (according to O.N. Moskovchenko). These athletes are characterized by an athletic build, above-average height and low weight. This helps them overcome the surface of the aquatic environment more easily. Athletes-underwater swimmers specializing in sprint and underwater disciplines belong to the third MFPTPD. Swimmers have high body length and weight indicators, which allows them to perform speed-strength work at a high level. The data obtained during the study can serve as an effective pedagogical tool in the preparation of swimmers-underwater swimmers. The relationship between sports specialization and morphofunctional characteristics serves as a scientific basis for organizing the training process. The dynamics of changes in morphofunctional parameters depending on the specialization provides the opportunity to justify the choice of underwater discipline, which allows predicting a high result of the athlete and individualizing the training process.
Keywords: underwater swimmers, training process, morphofunctional characteristics, sports specialization.
