Introduction. Competitiveness, associated with a focus on winning and setting records, is the main distinguishing feature of sports [1]. And participation in the largest sports competitions is the cherished goal of every athlete. For sports not included in the Olympic Games program, such competitions are the World Games (WIS), which are held in the same way as the Olympic Games, once every four years. The next VI will be held in 2025, and for the first time, two disciplines of underwater diving of the freediving group are included in the competition program: dynamic apnea in flippers (DYN) and dynamic apnea without flippers (DNF). The candidates for participation in the VI are athletes who took 1st to 8th places in these sports disciplines at the 2024 World Underwater Sports Championship (2024 World Cup). The analysis of the variability and relationship between sports results in different sports disciplines allows you to outline a strategy and determine the optimal content of an athlete's preparation for the main starts.
The aim of the study is to establish the variability and relationship between the results in the sports disciplines of freediving in women's competitions.
Methodology and organization of the study. The results of the women's competitions at the 2024 World Cup, which are qualifying competitions for participation in the VI, in the disciplines of DYN and DNF, were analyzed. The statistical indicators coefficient of variation and correlation coefficient were used for the analysis.
The results of the study and their discussion. The analysis of the variability of the results of the 2024 World Cup participants in the analyzed disciplines showed that the samples of participants in the disciplines DYN (n=52) and DNF (n=45) can be considered homogeneous (the coefficient of variation of the results is 27.7% and 32.8%, respectively). At the same time, these values of the coefficient of variation indicate a significant variation in results in both sports disciplines. The coefficient of variation of the results of the participants who took 1st to 8th places in the DYN discipline was 0.97%, and in the DNF discipline – 10.7%, which indicates a slight and average variation in the results, respectively. The coefficient of variation according to the results of the winners in both analyzed disciplines indicates a slight variation in the results (DYN V =3.5%, DNF V=3.3%).
The correlation analysis between the results of the participants in both analyzed disciplines (n=36) showed a strong highly significant relationship (r=0.88, p≤0.001). The results corresponding to the selection criteria in both sports disciplines were shown by 4 athletes.
Conclusions. The analysis of the variability of results in the sports disciplines of freediving DYN and DNF indicates a high level of competition in qualifying competitions, and the results of correlation analysis indicate the homogeneity of the analyzed sports disciplines. This, on the one hand, necessitates serious preparation for the main competitions, and on the other hand, facilitates the planning of the preparation process for competitions in both sports disciplines and allows the use of unidirectional means and methods of sports training.
