Introduction. In the context of globalization, it is necessary to create a special model of the world order with a stable geopolitics integrating national and transnational interests, these processes were reflected in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The intensity of passions regarding the participation (non-participation) of Russian athletes confirms the existential crisis in this area.
The purpose of the study is to identify the risks and prospects for the development of the Olympic movement in a multipolar modern world based on the results of a sociological survey.
Methodology and organization of the study. The study involved 860 respondents directly related to sports (athletes and coaches) aged 16 to 55 years, of whom 38% were girls and women and 62% were boys and men. The study took place during the training sessions of regional and all-Russian competitions in the Siberian Federal District. The data was processed using the SPSS package.
The results of the study and their discussion. About half (49%) of the respondents supported the search for alternatives to the Olympic Games held by the IOC, 64% noted that history is familiar with multipolar sports at the turn of 1920-1930. Between World Wars I and II, international sport was already multipolar. The "faster, higher, stronger" model led to the unsolvable problem of doping, which was noted by 59% of the respondents, as well as the victorious participation of transgender women (de facto biological men) in women's competitions, which was opposed by 98% of the respondents we surveyed. There is a dual position between athletes: some (54%) believe that sport should be outside politics, 46% complain about returning to the old. Sport engages the public, and 87% of respondents supported the participation of volunteers.
Conclusions. It is necessary to rethink the goals and objectives of Russia's sports policy at all levels, including international, the creation of a new Olympism from the IOC monopoly on the Olympic Games, i.e. in the conditions of modern multipolarity of the world, it is necessary to reset the rules of the game in sports at different levels. In the future, the multipolarity of the world should play a favorable role in achieving agreement in the socio-political sphere in a particular State and achieving agreement on an international scale.
