Introduction. The threat of terrorism is still an urgent social problem in our society. The most likely places for terrorist acts are sports competitions, since there are many spectators present at them (this will ensure maximum effect), many talented participants from all over Russia, or even the world (this will ensure the undermining of quality indicators and friendly ties), will attract maximum attention from information publications (they are in principle present at sports competitions, and terrorist actions will be able to attract the maximum attention of the media space [1]. All this actualizes this topic in modern socio-humanitarian knowledge.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the potential threat of terrorist acts at sports competitions in the public consciousness.
Methodology and organization of the study. 650 members of various sports federations took part in the survey – 550 athletes participating in competitions of different levels, 50 coaches and 50 organizers of sports competitions. Of these, 60% are women and 40% are men. The data was processed using the SPSS package.
The results of the study and their discussion. The threat of terrorism is present at sports competitions – 100%. But athletes point to the preparation of the space (video cameras, metal detectors, the work of dog handlers, etc.) – 32%; informing athletes and fans about potential threats, which leads to the vigilance of all participants in sports competitions – 33%; general education of the population on combating terrorism, not specifically related to sports competitions – 20%, The work of counter–terrorism professionals in organizing sports events is 15%.
Do athletes perceive the threat of terrorism as a personal threat for 64% – no, and only for 36% of respondents this is a real threat. It may be a certain infantilism, that since it does not concern me at work, it will bypass me, or the unwillingness to admit that everyone has a threat and concerns everyone without exception. This position weakens personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of their surroundings.
Awareness of one's role and importance in countering terrorist risks can become the basis for social modeling of public security. This can be facilitated by educational activities (50%), master classes (29%) and workshops (21%) on behavior in a risky situation.
At the same time, respondents assign a key role in the prevention of terrorism to government officials who ensure social security (81%). It is important to develop trust in the authorities, which will lead to increased solidarity [2], and together we will be able to counter the external terrorist threat.
Conclusions. On the one hand, sports competitions in the public consciousness have an increased riskiness, on the other hand, those who are involved in sports competitions are becoming more vigilant to the potential terrorist threat. This allows us to hope for awareness and the ability to counter terrorist threats through the joint efforts of government officials, organizers of sports competitions and the public.
