Introduction. The organization of terrorist events during sporting events leads to undermining the social security of society and maximizing public attention to the terrorists themselves through the media and the Internet [1, 2]. The immanent media space becomes the source of information that replicates the motives, characteristics, and goals of the activities of terrorists and terrorist organizations, which, on the one hand, increases the level of awareness of the population and increases their involvement in everyday life and for sports purposes, and on the other hand, spreads the destructive ideas of terrorist organizations in the country.
The purpose of the study is to identify the nature of information content covering terrorist acts and threats during sporting events based on the analysis of the media space.
Methodology and organization of the study. The study involved 3,421 communities distributed in the Internet media space from 2000 to 2023. The search for materials was carried out through search queries google.com "terrorism in sports", "terrorism for sports purposes", "terrorism and sports".
Research results and their discussion. As a result of the study of the media environment, we were able to identify several types of publications broadcasting connotations about the connection between terrorism and sports.
The first type is terrorism at sports events as a way to declare themselves (illegal organizations, individual odious destructive individuals) – 24%. This type of information messages has an ambiguity of perception, since there are those that "glorify" terrorists, although most of them negatively assess such opportunities to attract public attention.
The second type is measures to prevent terrorism at sporting events through informing the public – 30%. These publications are formally official in nature. If they are accompanied by colorful photos and video sequences, they can be viewed to the end by readers and viewers, which reduces their effectiveness. Only 45% of publications of this type are accompanied by illustrative information, step by step telling about the effectiveness of its impact and even more so about its assimilation.
The third type is the organization of social security of government representatives during large–scale sporting events - 25%. This is mostly reporting, concise, concise information transmitted in short messages. They take it as a formality, but not as something that can touch me personally.
The fourth type is the improvement of legal culture (athletes, coaches, fans) in order to prevent terrorism at sporting events –21%. The peculiarity of the publications is the allocation of the target audience and the fixation of attention on those accents on countering terrorism that may be characteristic of this group.
Conclusions. The media environment shapes public opinion about terrorist threats at sporting events. Publishing materials and preparing video and audio messages about the risks and real terrorist acts is impractical, but information should be conveyed from the perspective of prevention and prevention, and not whipping up an emotional destructive mood. The responsibility of all participants in the media space to social fears and, in general, the mood of all residents of the country is quite high.
