Key words: tactical characteristics of fighting, accuracy of the thrust, volume and effectiveness of actions.

Introduction. The target accuracy of a thrust in rapier fencing is determined by several factors: a) the technical perfection of the fencer, b) special dexterity, c) natural coordination abilities. Since the tactical characteristics of the implemented offensive and defensive actions take place in different distance, time and initiative modes, it is of interest to determine whether there are differences in the accuracy of the thrust at the end of these fights [1].
The purpose of the study is to identify the volume of injections into the unhittable surface of qualified foil fencers in fights with tactical characteristics.
Research results and discussion. The fights of 16 foil fencers at the level of candidates for master of sports and 170 masters of sports were analyzed.
Conclusions. The volume of invalid injections at the end of fights among some qualified rapier fighters is quite high: (up to 30%) of the injections inflicted, which negatively affects the overall effectiveness of the fights. Offensive maneuver fights are much more likely to end with inaccurate thrusts, unlike defensive ones. In other words, responses after repelling a maneuvering and expectant attack, as well as counterattacks, are more accurate. Other indicators were recorded when analyzing expectant and positional contractions. Here, offensive actions are characterized by a smaller volume of invalid injections, in contrast to defensive ones.
