Objective of the study was to determine and substantiate current trends in competitive activity among highly qualified and mass categories athletes aged 16-17 years in universal combat.
Methods and structure of the study. The experiment was carried out in two directions. The first direction included the passage of a special obstacle course by athletes of various qualifications. The second direction involved the assessment of technical and tactical actions of a competitive fight among highly qualified and mass athletes aged 16-17 years, specializing in universal combat. The time of passing the obstacle course and the quantitative characteristics of technical and tactical actions were recorded using video replays of the championships and championships of Russia and Moscow in universal combat.
Results and conclusions. The data obtained indicate that highly qualified athletes are reliably superior to their mass-class peers in passing a specialized obstacle course and are not inferior in terms of the volume of technical and tactical actions with arms, legs and wrestling performed during a competitive match.
Analysis of the time to overcome a special obstacle course made it possible to establish differences in overcoming individual obstacles between fighters of different qualifications. Mass athletes show low results in those sections of the obstacle course where the maximum manifestation of speed and strength abilities is required.
