The main criterion for the interaction of volleyball players in the playing space is the level of formed motor skills and abilities, due to general physical and technical-tactical readiness. At the same time, the speed of making a decision on choosing the most effective variant of a motional action in space, which creates the most effective game combination, is of great importance. As part of the improvement of game processes and the results of competitive activity, it is necessary to assess the spatial and temporal characteristics to further improve the quality and development of orientation in space by selecting special exercises.
Objective of the study was to assess the impact of the use of special technical exercises in the training process on the perception of space by 17-18 year old volleyball players.
Methods and structure of the study. Volleyball players 17-18 years old took part in the experiment. The control group was trained according to the standard program (n=16), experimental with the use of exercises for the development of spatio-temporal perception (n=15). The perception of the space of volleyball players was measured using the hardware and software complex "Sports Psychophysiologist".
Results and conclusions. Before the introduction of the program with exercises for the development of space-time perception in both groups, the average values of the test results did not differ significantly. After conducting a course of special technical exercises in the control group, some changes occurred in the direction of deterioration in the indicators of segment evaluation and recognition of angles, and in the direction of improvement in the indicator of angle evaluation, but not at a significantly significant level (p>0.5). In the experimental group, there were significantly significant changes (p<0.001) in the indicators of segment evaluation and angle recognition, while the number of errors decreased on average by two and four times, respectively. As, a result of the data obtained, the athletes involved in the program for the development of the perception of space and time have improved the perception of linear spatial measurements.
