Body perception and self-estimation of girls engaged in fitness as a psychological phenomenon

Objective of the study was to identify the relationship between self-esteem and body perception, namely: how body image affects self-esteem, anxiety, frustration, aggressiveness, rigidity, self-esteem, autosympathy, self-interest, self-confidence, self-acceptance, self-understanding, regardless of whether the subject has asthenic or hypersthenic physique in girls involved in fitness.
Methods and structure of the study. The work was carried out on the basis of the Astrakhan State University, in which 60 people took part. The age composition of the subjects is from 17 to 23 years. Diagnostic methods: self-image questionnaire O.A. Skugarevsky and S.V. Sivukha; test "Self-assessment of mental states" according to Eysenck, test-questionnaire of self-attitude V.V. Stolin and S.R. Panteleev with the scales "self-attitude" and "self-respect".
Results and conclusions. According to the results of the study, a relationship between body perception and self-esteem in girls was revealed, which makes it possible to correct the violation of self-esteem in girls whose height-to-weight ratio does not correspond to the norm. It has been established that there is a relationship between body image and such parameters as anxiety, frustration, rigidity, autosympathy, self-acceptance. It is the image of the body that affects anxiety, frustration, aggressiveness, rigidity, regardless of whether the subject has an asthenic and hypersthenic physique.
