Objective of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the results of foreign research on leisure and recreational activities with its other concepts in different sciences.
Methods and structure of the study. Two organizational methods were applied for the study purposes: content analysis of literary sources and comparative analysis of sports and recreational activities in various foreign countries.
Results and conclusions. The analysis of the main lines of research on the leisure and recreational activities in the foreign countries, as well as the most popular theoretical models, showed that the vast majority of them are based on the socio-psychological and culturological approaches. This is a relatively new, promising direction, which closely correlates with the contemporary challenges of practice. Lleisure and recreational services are becoming an important way to fight social diseases.

Keywords: physical recreation, leisure activities, sports and recreational activities, foreign research.
