Objective of the study was to experimentally substantiate a program of athletic training using combat sports and martial arts techniques that had been developed based on the physical conditions of adolescents with health disorders.
Methods and structure of the study. The experiment involved 15 adolescents from the second health group - those with chronic diseases without severe pathologies. The training sessions were conducted 3 times a week for 2 hours and did not involve participation in the competitions. The educational experiment lasted 8 months. The subjects’ level of and consistency in physical development were assessed based on the following measurements: body weight (kg), body length (cm), body mass index (BMI, kg/m2), birth-death ratio (BDR, ml/kg), strength index (SI, %). The physical development indicators in the adolescents were rated by the method of centile analysis; their functional state was assessed using the Martine-Kushelevsky’s test, Stange’s test (sec), double product index (DPI, c.u.), Skibinskaya’s index (IS, c.u.). Their physical fitness was rated in the following tests: 6-min run (m), seated forward bends (cm), standing long jump (cm), shuttle run (sec), sit-ups per 1 min (number of reps).
Results and conclusions. A rational load mode at the training sessions had a corrective effect: the adolescents’ physical development level approached the mean values. The use of a sufficiently large amount of aerobic exercises ensured the functional development of the cardiorespiratory system and the increase of its adaptive reserves. The complex coordination exercises typical for combat sports and martial arts were found to be an effective means to develop dexterity and agility in the adolescents from the second health group. The improvement of the physical conditions of the adolescents from the second health group should be seen as an outcome of the educational experiment.
