Objective of the study was to examine the medical and social aspects of physical education and sports activities of organ transplant recipients.
Results of the study and conclusions. The article is devoted to the problems of medical indications for physical education and sports practices that arise among organ transplant recipients who want to lead an active life and participate in sports competitions. It also explores the role of physical activity in the patients’ life quality improvement after the transplantation surgeries and the importance of organizing sports events among organ transport recipients in order to popularize organ donation in the world. On a par with best international practices, a battery of clinical studies was proposed for organ transplant recipients to gain access to sports events.
According to the authors, the world and Russian experience shows that an adequate level of physical activity poses no danger to organ transplant recipients. On the contrary, it is physical training and sports activities that are key for maintaining health and improving life quality of such patients. At different stages of rehabilitation, physical exercises help people who have had organs transplanted to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Regular physical activities contribute to the increase in their energy level, sense of well-being, improvement of mental health and, as a result, improvement of the quality of their life. The prerequisite for successful physical training and sports activities and participation in transplant games is medical examination upon the advice of the transplantologist and the rehabilitation physician.
