Development of vestibular stability and intelligence in junior female athletes and schoolgirls

Introduction. Intelligence is of great importance in sports activities. Its manifestation is associated with the possibility of mastering complex coordination exercises [1].
The aim of the study was to compare the level of vestibular stability and intelligence in young athletes of different specializations and schoolgirls who are not involved in sports.
Methodology and organization of the study. The study involved 10-12-year-old athletes specializing in athletics, rhythmic gymnastics and basketball, as well as schoolgirls attending only physical education classes (15 people in each group). To assess the development of vestibular stability, control tasks and an instrumental method of research on the stability exercise machine Mera A-150 (combined test: balance and balance management) were used. Control tasks included: Romberg's pose with closed eyes; passing a straight line segment after performing 5 360-degree turns with the head tilted back; complex task: 3 somersaults forward, then 3 jumps with a 360-degree turn, then keeping balance on one, the other back to the bottom, hands to the sides; turns on the gymnastic bench according to P. Hirtz. Along with this, the study was offered the Raven test, designed to diagnose the level of intellectual development.
Results of the study and their discussion. Control motor tasks were performed best by female gymnasts. The score of the combined sample was higher in terms of balance in the group of gymnasts compared to the group of schoolgirls (p>0.05). At the same time, the statistical difference with the group of track and field athletes and basketball players was not established. In balance management, the best result is also shown by a group of gymnasts – it is significantly higher than in the groups of track and field athletes and basketball players. But with a group of schoolgirls, no differences were observed, which may indicate a more versatile physical training in physical education classes compared to training in athletics and basketball. the advantage of female gymnasts is explained by the content and purposefulness of training programs.
The results of the Rowan test showed an unambiguous level of intellectual development in girls of all study groups (from 93.9 to 97.6 points) – some advantages were observed in groups of gymnasts and track and field athletes. Correlation analysis using the Pearson method revealed a high tightness of the relationship between the indicators of general intelligence and the level of vestibular stability (p>0.05).
Conclusions. Taking into account the relationship between the indicators of vestibular stability and intelligence, it can be argued that complex coordination motor activity has a positive impact on the development of intellectual abilities and should be widely used in the practice of physical education of schoolchildren.
