Introduction. The objectives of the gender approach in education are to create a gender-comfortable educational environment, and modify the content, forms, methods, and means of teaching and upbringing based on it.
The aim of the study was to identify the conditions conducive to the development of competence of physical education teachers in gender approach to education in the training system.
Methodology and organization of the study. Methods of theoretical research and analysis of educational programs, Internet resources, practice of teaching physical culture, training and advanced training of teachers, development of their competence in the implementation of the gender approach in Ulyanov state pedagogical University were used.
The results of the study and their discussion. To develop the professional competence of physical education teachers, it is necessary to include in educational programs the training module "Gender approach in modern education", which discusses the organization of physical education classes based on a gender approach. An Appendix to it is educational and methodological support that contains diagnostic tools and recommendations for conducting gender analysis of educational literature, textbooks, lessons, etc. [4]. During the inter-course period, meetings with scientists, conferences and seminars on gender issues are advisable to update the competence of teachers. An important condition for the development of physical education teachers is to attract teachers from various faculties of the University who specialize in gender pedagogy and psychology to conduct training sessions.
A significant role in developing the competence of physical education teachers is played by reference to the experience of innovative activities of educational organizations in implementing a gender approach in education.
A variety of thematic materials for physical education teachers can be found on the Internet on the sites "Multiurok", "Methodsovet", "I'm going to a physical education lesson", "physical Culture" and many others.
At the same time, we see tasks that require further resolution: the selection of valid diagnostic tools for teachers ' deficits in gender issues; training future teachers to implement a gender approach in working with schoolchildren (for example, courses for students "Fundamentals of gender theory of physical culture" [1], etc.).
Conclusion. The considered educational and methodological, scientific and methodological, informational and personnel conditions contribute to the development of the competence of students and physical education teachers in the application of a gender approach and can be widely used in the training and advanced training of physical education teachers in teacher training colleges, universities, and institutes of postgraduate education.
