Objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of competitive activity of the national teams from different countries at the European armwrestling championships in 2015-2019.
Methods and structure of the study. We analyzed the official protocols of the European armwrestling championships in 2015-2019. The number of prizes won served as an evaluation criterion. During the analysis of the competitive results, the winning places for the left- and right-handers were summed.
Results of the study and conclusions. The analysis revealed Europe's top national armwrestling teams: men’s, women’s, and in the overall standing. We studied the dynamics of the number of prizes won by the top three countries - leaders of the team classification: among women - Russia, Ukraine, and Slovakia; among men - Georgia, Russia, and Bulgaria; in the overall standing - Russia, Georgia, and Bulgaria. There was a positive dynamics in the number of prizes won in 2019 versus 2015 - Russia, Georgia, and Armenia, and a negative dynamics - Bulgaria and Ukraine. The best positive trend was observed among the national teams of Armenia - in 2019 as opposed to 2015 and Georgia - in 2016 as opposed to 2015. Turkey demonstrated the greatest negative dynamic in 2017 as opposed to 2015. At the 2015-2019 European championships, the prizes were won the armwrestlers from 20 countries, the first prizes - by those from 9 countries. The Russian national team has been the leader at the European championships for the past five years in terms of the total number of prizes one and in the overall standings among women. By the number of medals won by men, Georgia took the lead, while the Georgian women took the 8th place, with only 8% of prizes from their total number in the national team. The Slovak women made 100% of the prizes, Swedish - 87.5%, and Lithuanian - 78.5%. In the Romanian national team, men won 100% of prizes, in that of Armenia - 75%.
