Objective of the study was to determine the impact of swimming as a physical activity as a means of reducing emotional burnout among higher education teachers.
Methods and structure of the study. Determine the role of swimming as a means of relieving emotional burnout, higher education teachers aged 28 to 65 years (N=104) were surveyed, including 50 men (48%) and 54 women (52%). The survey used the author's express questionnaire to determine demographic indicators and the psychological test «Diagnostics of the level of emotional burnout» by V.V. Boyko.
Results and conclusions. Swimming twice a week for six months reduces emotional exhaustion in university teachers, especially in adult women. Swimming for six months shifted the stages of emotional burnout to a decrease. Thus, in men and young women, only the «Tension» stage remained pronounced, while in adult women it decreased to the «Resistance» stage. In adult men, emotional burnout does not differ from that in young men. The smallest change after swimming in men occurred on the «Experiencing psychotraumatic circumstances» scale, apparently additional therapy is needed here. Swimming did not reduce the severity of the «Resistance» stage in all university teachers.
