Spiritual and moral development of preschoolers and primary school students in the process of joint sports activities with older people

Objective of the study: To identify the specific influence of joint sports activities with older people on the development of the personality of preschoolers and primary school students.
Methods and structure of the study: The experiment involved participant observation during joint training sessions of athletes of different ages and the charity table tennis tournament "Steel Tree-2024". The study involved 23 people, including 14 pensioners and 9 preschoolers and primary school students. Four indicators were selected as observation elements: mutual assistance; mutual support; showing respect; expressing gratitude.
Results and conclusions: It was found that in joint training and competitions, positive behavioral reactions were demonstrated by preschoolers and primary school children both in relation to their peers and to the elderly participants in the training, but in relation to the elderly they were expressed to a greater extent. No elements of age discrimination, typically recorded in the attitude towards the elderly in society, were identified. The criteria for respect were the sports results and sports experience of the elderly participants in the competitions. The age aspect was demonstrated only in relation to children by adult participants who sought to support the young athletes morally. In response, there was a manifestation of not only respect, but also gratitude, which stimulated the spiritual and moral development of children.
