Objective of the study was to development of model characteristics of the functional fitness of highly qualified athletes specializing in Greco-Roman wrestling at the stages of long-term training as a means of managing the training process.
Methods and structure of the study. Highly qualified Greco-Roman wrestlers in the amount of 226 people took part in the scientific work. The main research methods were the analysis of scientific and scientific-methodical literature, anthropometry, bicycle ergometry, gasometry, determination of aerobic and anaerobic performance indicators, methods of studying the cardiovascular system, methods of studying strength abilities, psychophysiological research methods, testing of competitive activity, methods of mathematical and statistical data processing.
Results and conclusions. Based on the results of comprehensive studies of morphofunctional development, functional state of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, aerobic and anaerobic performance, mental and psychophysiological state of highly skilled Greco-Roman wrestlers, during statistical processing of the obtained material, standards and model characteristics of a qualitative assessment of morphofunctional development, physical performance, state of the cardiorespiratory system and physical qualities of Greco-Roman wrestlers were developed.
The development and use of model characteristics of the strongest athletes allows for a timely and objective assessment of various components of the athlete's physical condition and adjustments to the training process. The use of model characteristics as some guidelines can be used both in stage-by-stage and operational planning. Some indicators of the medical and biological state of athletes are used for operational control, and as a consequence, for managing the pedagogical process.
Keywords: model characteristics, standards, assessment, control, management of sports training, Greco-Roman wrestling, highly qualified athletes.
