Dynamics of hand strength and strength index indicators among university students

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the dynamics of indicators of hand strength and strength index of university students.
Methodology and organization of the study. The measurement of hand strength was carried out by the method of hand dynamometry, the force index (SI) was calculated using the formula: SI = hand strength, kg x 100 / body weight, kg. Analysis and interpretation of the results were carried out using a computer program [2].
The results of the study and their discussion. In the 2022-2023 academic year, we examined 64 boys and 100 girls of the 1st year. The measurement of the studied parameters was carried out in September, December 2022 and May 2023. At the beginning of the school year, the average right/left hand dynamometry in both boys (40.80±5.10/39.80±4.98, respectively) and girls (24.55±2.45/22.09±2.21) turned out to be significantly lower than the average norm for their age category (the norm for boys from 16 to 19 years – from 45.9 to 51.0 kg, girls from 16 to 19 years old – from 31.3 to 33.8 kg). SI in boys was 54.67% of body weight with a norm of 65-80%, in girls – 41.48% with standard values of 48-50%. During the semester, in accordance with the work program on physical culture and sports (elective discipline), students studied 1 time a week as part of classroom classes and 1 time – extracurricular. An analysis of measurements carried out at the end of December revealed a negative trend in the development of hand strength. Thus, in young men, the average dynamometry of the right / left hand was 35.71±4.46/32.14±4.02, respectively, SI, against the background of a slight weight loss associated with the adaptation period to the conditions of training and preparation for the first session, amounted to 53.23%, remaining at a low level. And in girls, the dynamometry of the hands is 22.36 ±2.24 / 20.45± 2.05, respectively. However, unlike boys, against the background of a significant decrease in body weight, SI also improved to 43.30%, although this indicator also does not reach the norm values.
Due to the negative dynamics of the studied indicators, complexes of strength and aerobic exercises were developed in order to increase strength qualities and correct body weight [1], the performance of which was provided during extracurricular time and independently.
As a result of the control measurement in May 2023, the positive dynamics of all studied parameters in both gender groups was traced. Thus, in young men, against the background of maintaining body weight, dynamometry indicators significantly improved to 42.50±5.31/41.00±5.13, respectively, and SI increased to 62.82% of body weight and reached standard values. In girls, the indicators increased to 27.33±2.73/24.00±2.40, respectively, SI reached the limits of the norm and amounted to 49.40%. At the same time, the recorded changes during the year are statically significant (p0.05). Similar results were obtained at the NUUz im. Mirzo Ulugbek.
Conclusion. Thus, the data of dynamometry of hand strength do not fully assess the strength capabilities of students. For an objective assessment of the development of strength qualities or strength capabilities, it will be more acceptable to use SI, which is also an indicator of the quality of professionally applied physical training.
