Introduction. Modern trends in university education are characterized by increased demands on the mental and physical performance of students, their adaptability to changing conditions. Academic overload, disruption of work and rest, physical inactivity, and psycho-emotional stress can lead students to neuropsychiatric exhaustion [1]. In this regard, there is a need for future specialists to develop resilience as a characteristic of a person's ability to withstand a stressful situation, maintaining internal balance and not reducing the success of their activities [2].
It should be noted that resilience is an integral characteristic, its formation can be promoted by creating pedagogical situations in physical education focused on greater involvement, control and "risk taking" in the process of mastering, consolidating and improving physical exercises.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the formation of resilience and its components in first-year students.
Methodology and organization of the study. The testing was carried out at the Department of Physical Culture of Surgut State University in the 2023-2024 academic year, in which, according to the methodology of the "S. Muddy Resilience Test" in the adaptation of D. A. 93 1st year students of various bachelor's degree courses (46 boys and 47 girls) took part in Leontiev [3].
The results of the study and their discussion. An analysis of the test results of first-year students allows us to state that in the group of surveyed there was a tendency to a predominance of the average level, both of individual components and of general resilience as a whole (see figure).
Special attention should be paid to a fairly large percentage of students who have a low level of the "engagement" component. They are characterized by insufficient immersion in activity, which leads to a lack of satisfaction from its performance, depression and rejection may occur, the conviction that life is passing by [2].
Conclusions. The analysis of the results of the formation of resilience among first-year students indicates the need to find ways to improve it. Physical education in the context of this issue has high potential, but for its disclosure it is necessary to make wider use of problematic teaching methods that will stimulate greater involvement of students, activate independent cognitive activity in the field of physical culture and sports.
