Introduction. Solving the problem of forming stable motives for physical and health-improving activities in students is one of the important tasks of the entire education system [1]. The effectiveness of motivation formation is significantly influenced by such forms of activity enhancement as master classes with the participation of sports leaders.
The purpose of the study is to form motivation for physical and sports activities in high school students using master classes in sports.
Methods and organization of the study. At the MBOU "Secondary School No. 18" in Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic, throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, monthly master classes were held with the participation of the Thai boxing club "Phoenix", HC "Sokol", the basketball club "ChSU-Atlanta", the sports and dance club "Rubin", HC "Ak-Bars" (Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan) and the sports club of NUUz (Tashkent, Uzbekistan, web broadcast). The degree of formation of motivation in students was determined by constant monitoring of student involvement in sports and analysis of the structure of motives using the questionnaire "Assessment of students' motivation for sports".
Research results and discussion. In the modern school, the motive of self-realization in the process of physical education significantly prevails over the motive of satisfying the motor need. If the latter motive prompts the student to simply attend physical education classes, then the motive of self-realization is mainly associated with satisfying the need to master sports skills in the chosen sport and achieve certain sports goals. In the choice of the type of sports activity, the importance of master classes with sports idols who have authority in the world of sports is high.
As a result of informative master classes with the participation of the above sports teams during the academic year, the following number of students started regular sports classes (data are given at the beginning / at the end of the experiment): Thai boxing: 3/11% of high school students; ice hockey: 3/7% of students; basketball: 10/29% of students; the percentage of students involved in other sports (volleyball, football, swimming, etc.) was 44%. Analysis of the results of the student questionnaire to determine the structure of motives for physical education classes showed that 20% of the respondents at the beginning and 30% at the end of the study do physical exercises for self-improvement and achieving sports skills; 13% and 18% of the respondents, respectively, prioritize the motive of receiving positive emotions; in the third position are the motive of satisfying the need for physical activity (5% and 15%, respectively) and the motive of expanding the circle of communication (4% and 13%, respectively).
Conclusions. Thus, the regular holding of master classes with authoritative sports leaders has an effective impact on the formation of motivation for physical and sports activities in high school students and on involving them in regular sports.
