Objective of the study was to identifying the dynamics of the formation of the functional capabilities of energy supply systems for highly qualified ski racers aged 17-20 years at the stages of the Olympic training cycle.
Methods and structure of the study. 11 athletes from the Russian junior cross-country skiing team, aged 17 to 20, took part in the scientific work. The program for assessing the functionality of energy supply systems was based on two test procedures: 1 – stepwise increasing load «to failure» in running work on a treadmill, 2 – 60-second maximum muscular work performed as «all-out» on a mechanical bicycle ergometer.
Results and conclusions. The results of a comparative analysis of the studied indicators indicate that a feature of the dynamics of the formation of functional capabilities at the end of the preparatory period (the second year of preparation) is a multi-level annual increase in the absolute values of the power and economization capabilities of the oxidative and lactic acid energy systems. At the same time, the elimination of differences in relation to the model level on the part of integral indicators of physical performance occurs with a decrease in differences in indicators of the power and economization capabilities of the oxidative system, the anaerobic threshold and the preservation of differences on the part of the lactic acid system, which is manifested both in indicators of the activity of the functioning of the system itself, and in terms of in relation to sales activities, reflected in performance indicators.

Keywords: ski racers 17-20 years old, dynamics of functional capabilities of energy supply systems, regulatory mechanisms, readiness for implementation activities.
