Objective of the study was to identify optimal viewing angles for a standard dance based on an expert assessment of the judges visual perception of dance movements.
Methods and structure of the study. To determine the optimal viewing angle for dance movements, an expert survey was conducted, in which 10 judges of the 1st category of dance sports in Russia and China took part. Experts were asked to identify the best viewing angles when performing dance movements Overway, Contra check, Lunge (Table 1). Answers were rated on a 10-point scale.
Results and conclusions. As the expert assessment showed, the majority of judges believe that a positive visual effect is achieved at viewing angles of 90° and 270°. The optimal visual effect is related to the spatial relationship between the dancers and the basic principles of constructing dance movements. Taking into account the optimal viewing angle should be used in organizing competitions for dancers. When preparing for competitions, dancers should choose their performance tactics in such a way as to rationally distribute dance movements that provide the best viewing angle, taking into account the judges scoring methods.
