Objective of the study was to determine the model characteristics of the time parameters of the competitive activity of highly qualified triathletes.
Methods and structure of the study. Methods of pedagogical testing, modeling and mathematical statistics were used. Model characteristics of the average speed of completing the race were compiled on the basis of protocols of 1363 participants in the main international competitions and the Olympic Games. Modeling of the time parameters of the race was carried out based on the results of control starts of 26 members of the Russian national triathlon team.
Results and conclusions. To compile model characteristics of the competitive activity of highly qualified triathletes, an assessment scale in 7 ranges has been developed. A model of the time parameters of the competitive activity of highly qualified domestic triathletes during 500 m swimming, 10 km cycling and 3 km running was completed. The race model for highly qualified triathletes, based on the construction of performance scales in individual segments, allows us to assign each athlete to one of 7 levels and objectively assess the leading and lagging aspects of athletes physical fitness in the disciplines included in the Olympic triathlon.

Keywords: triathlon, modeling, highly qualified athletes, Olympic Games, time parameters of a triathlon race.
