Objective of the study was to develop a test battery reflecting the reliability and authenticity of athletes information to ensure selection, and differentiate test results data for Leagues 1, 2 and 3 to select basketball players at each level of the China University Men's Basketball League (CUBA).
Methods and structure of the study. Tested seven top teams and 98 athletes at each level of the Chinese University Men's Basketball League (CUBA) in 2022-2023. Research on the reliability of information to study and discuss the structural characteristics of the competitiveness of college basketball players, as well as to develop selection criteria, used the field test method, expert interview and questionnaire methods.
Results and conclusions. Based on the results of the examination of leading experts, it was established that for the purpose of selecting basketball players, tests were used to assess physical fitness (3), assess technical skill (5), morphological characteristics, weight, height, arm span, spirometry, as well as duration of stay in sports. The assessment of psychological factors was determined according to the Mayer Brix MBTI test, which reveals attitudes towards competitive activity, emotional stability, and «devaluation» of physical exercise.
