Objective of the study was to scientifically substantiate the method of involving students in physical culture and sports classes based on the argumentation method in the conditions of the university.
Methods and structure of the study. The pedagogical experiment was carried out at the Chuvash I. Yakovlev State Pedagogical Universit, which was attended by 44 2nd year students of non-physical faculties who could not decide on the choice of a sport, divided into control (CG) and experimental (EG) groups of 22 people each, having equally low attendance in the discipline "General physical Preparation".
Results and conclusions. The methodology is based on the use of reasoned evidence of the need for physical education and dispute in the process of studying at a university. In particular, at the introductory lessons of the lecture type at the beginning of the semester, examples of the benefits and positive impact of physical education and sports on mental activity are given by the method of argumentation. In practical classes during rest for complete and / or partial recovery of the body between physical exercises, the argumentation method provides students with information about the importance of warming up from the periphery to the center according to the principle of massage, the need to strain the joints, move the shoulder blades, internal organs of the chest and pelvis, spinal column, upper and lower limbs.
As the experiment showed, the methodology of motivation through argumentation showed its effectiveness in solving the problem of attracting students with negative attitudes towards motor activity to physical culture and sports classes at a university.
