Design of technology for the formation of motivation of university students to activities in physical culture and sports

Objective of the study was to develop and theoretically substantiate the technology of forming motivation and increasing interest in systematic physical education and sports among students and substantiating its impact on their physical fitness and performance.
Methods and structure of the study. To design the technology of formation of students' motivation for physical education, a survey was conducted of 65 teachers and more than 600 students from different faculties of the Herzen State Pedagogical University (St. Petersburg).
Results and conclusions. As a result of the pedagogical experiment, an increase in the given indicators was obtained, which shows the high efficiency of the technology of motivation formation among 1st year students. New educational technologies and fitness technologies evoke positive emotions among students and determine the motive for physical exercises, the point-rating system encourages them to attend classes. Obviously, in order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to focus on the leading motivation revealed in physical education classes and attitude towards them, actively use an individual approach, take into account different personality types of students, individual preferences, as well as factors that interfere with sports and physical exercises.
