Objective of the study was to develop a methodology for using the organizational and methodological technique “swimming behind the leader” to increase the efficiency of speed training of swimmers.
Methods and structure of the study. 10 swimmers took part in the experiment. 2 masters of sports, 5 candidates for master of sports and 3 holders of the first adult category in swimming.
Swimming of 25 m segments was carried out with time recording. In this case, the swimmer had to swim the maximum distance, without a leader.
Results and conclusions. It was revealed that the distance between the leader and the follower of 3 and 5 meters is the most optimal for the effective use of the organizational and methodological technique “swimming behind the leader.” It has also been established that the growth of the slave has a significant impact on the increase in his speed, and the higher the growth, the greater the increase in the speed of the slave. The study also revealed that the increase in the speed of a follower depends on the dimensions of the leader, that is, on its midsection and weight, and for a greater increase in speed it is desirable that the leader have significant weight and cross-sectional area. And for more effective use of this organizational and methodological technique, the speed of the follower must exceed the speed of the leader.
