Objective of the study was to establish the impact of hand-to-hand combat training on the level of physical capabilities of first-year boys.
Methods and structure of the study. We observed 53 healthy young men who were first-year students, of whom they formed two groups. The observation group (26 people), in addition to university physical education classes, began attending hand-to-hand combat training twice a week. The control group (27 people) experienced significant physical activity twice a week only during physical education classes at the university. Observations in both groups were carried out for five months. During the study, the observation method, the analysis and synthesis method, the generalization method, the testing method and the statistical processing method (calculation of the Student's test) were used.
Results and conclusions. Regular participation in hand-to-hand combat training ensured improved coordination and stability in space among first-year students. Against the backdrop of these trainings, their strength and speed capabilities, and level of endurance increased. The data obtained allow us to believe that hand-to-hand combat classes help first-year students to increase their physical capabilities, ensuring adaptation to academic loads.
