Introduction. Currently, the Asian region is a collection of dynamically developing countries that can compete with Western countries in various fields, including sports. Under the leadership of the Olympic Council of Asia, athletes representing Asian countries are increasing their presence in the international arena, improving their results year after year. However, the dynamics of the development of Summer Olympic sports in other countries is not so clear, most of the CCA member countries are still not involved in the field of international sports. In this regard, the analysis of the results of the performances of athletes from Asian countries will form the basis for developing proposals for the further development of Olympic sports in Asia.
The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis and generalization of empirical data and the results of the performances of athletes from the CCA member countries at the Asian Games and Olympic Games in the XXI century.
The results of the study and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that, in general, the development of Olympic sports in Asia has a positive trend. However, the number of Asian countries whose athletes successfully compete at the Olympic Games and the Asian Games is limited in the 21st century. The question arises about the need to increase them.
An analysis of the performance indicators of the CCA member countries at the Asian Games and the Olympic Games revealed a number of contradictions.
On the one hand, the Asian region is dynamically developing, expanding successfully practiced Olympic sports, involving an increasing number of athletes in high-performance sports, as well as popularizing non-Olympic sports. To a greater extent, this is due to the active activity of the OCA, which offers Asian countries the opportunity to participate in various competitions.
On the other hand, a limited number of OCA member countries are represented at the world championships. Out of 45 countries, athletes from only half of the countries in this region consistently participate and win medals. At the same time, the difference in the athletic training of athletes from these countries is clearly visible. The gap between the results of the performances of athletes from China, Japan and other countries is huge. This indicates that it is necessary to develop new integrated approaches in the development of sports on the Asian continent.
As possible directions for further improvement of Olympic sports in Asian countries, it should be considered:
the creation of joint long-term training programs for athletes with the leaders of the Asian sports movement;
the development of experience exchange programs, which should primarily involve those countries that do not show high results at major competitions or whose athletes are not selected at all;
conducting bilateral training camps between the leading countries in the sport and developing countries;
development of programs for the popularization of winter sports with the infrastructural support of the OCA.
