Objective of the study was to present the experience of sports and pedagogical skills of coach D.P. Korkina in the training of high-class wrestlers-athletes, built on the basis of scientifically based use of ethnic traditions of physical education of representatives of the Sakha people.
Results and conclusions. The authors present the historical experience of developing sportsmanship of the honored coach of the YSSR, USSR D.P. Korkina. Based on Yakut traditions, Dmitry Petrovich Korkin founded a wrestling school, which graduated a large number of high-class athletes, successful coaches and managers.
In memory of the teacher, scientific and sports events are systematically held, in particular, the All-Russian tournament for the title “Master of Sports of the Russian Federation” at the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, scientific and practical conferences at the international and republican level.
