Keywords: legal norms, moral norms, corruption.
Introduction. Legal culture and moral and ethical beliefs are the basis for the social and professional realization of athletes. But the legal component is not always observed during the competition: bribes, forgery and other corruption schemes can change the balance of power [1].
The purpose of the study is to identify the perception of violations of legal and moral and ethical norms during sports competitions by young athletes.
Methodology and organization of the study. 650 young athletes took part in the scientific work carried out in 2022. The research method was a questionnaire survey.
The results of the study and their discussion. Violation of legal norms for the majority of respondents (66%) is a greater threat to personal safety and a successful career in sports than violation of moral and ethical norms (34%). Athletes explain this by saying that others can find out about legal violations (bribes, forgery, falsification of results) and they will be punished, while the violation of moral and ethical norms will remain on the conscience of the person who violates them, i.e. there will be no official prosecution, therefore, it is not perceived as a serious argument against violation of norms.
70% of respondents indicated that there is a violation of legal norms, while almost all participants in the study are aware of the violation of moral and ethical norms - 99%. Everyone knows, but they are silent.
A high level of emotional involvement in violations of legal and moral and ethical norms is more often negative and censorious (26%) and 12% as positive (admiration that they were able to give or take a bribe, implement a "successful" scheme to circumvent the judges' decision or the course of the competition, etc., and willingness to use such a solution on their own, if necessary questions). The average level of emotional connection to sports competitions is defined as only verbal censure – 32% or support – 15% of the situation of violation of legal and moral and ethical norms. A low level of emotional interaction always manifests itself in the form of negative assessments of violations of legal norms – 15%, positive assessments were not revealed.
Readiness to resist violations at a high level is present only in 15% of young people, at an average level – in 34%, at a low level – 51%. Respondents point out that if you openly resist the violation of legal and moral norms at sports competitions, then you yourself will be guilty and you will suffer. 75% have a hope that everything will either be solved by itself, or someone else will get involved in these processes and be able to change something. Only 25% can take responsibility for their lives and the lives of significant people.
Conclusion. Young athletes have information about violations of moral and legal norms at competitions, a significant part considers it quite acceptable. And, unfortunately, not everyone is ready to defend the observance of moral and legal norms at sports competitions.
