Introduction. The proper level of development of speed-strength abilities allows for the effective development of other motor abilities, and also contributes to the improvement of indicators of various functions and systems of the body [1, 2].
The purpose of the study is to experimentally substantiate the methodology for the education of speed–strength abilities in students in the educational process of physical education.
Methodology and organization of the study. The Department of Physical Education of the Chuvash State University has developed and tested a method of educating speed and strength abilities, based on the inclusion in the main part of the training sessions of complexes of exercises of a special orientation, which were built on a block system. These complexes were also used in extracurricular classes. The developed technique consisted of the following blocks: jumping exercises and their varieties, speed exercises (running through various segments, running on the spot, performed at the maximum pace), strength exercises (with the weight of one's own body on various muscle groups, performed at medium and fast rates). The blocks alternated every week, the load increased gradually.
To conduct a pedagogical experiment, two groups of girls were formed, assigned to the main medical group for health reasons. Classes in the control group (KG) were conducted according to the standard methodology according to the working programs in the disciplines of physical culture and sports, in the experimental group (EG) – according to the developed methodology with the inclusion of speed-strength exercises. It should be noted that before the experiment, the groups were single-level, there were no significant differences between the results of the two groups.
The results of the study and their discussion. The application of the methodology of educating speed and strength abilities in the educational process with students of EG during one semester allowed to increase their level. It should be noted that students of KG also experienced an increase in indicators, but in EG it was more significant. However, significant differences (p<0.05) between EG and KG were detected only in the test lifting the trunk from the supine position for 1 min, in the other tests the results were not reliable and manifested at the trend level, which can be explained by a short pedagogical experiment.
Conclusion. The effectiveness of the developed methodology is confirmed by the rate of increase in the indicators of speed and strength abilities of EG students, which can serve as a prerequisite for its application in the development of physical culture and sports disciplines.
