Children’s sports selection: sports gifts rating tests with correlated genetic, learning and physical skills tests

Objective of the study was to find most efficient children’s functionality and physical qualities tests to rate anthropometric characteristics, psychological and physiological qualities, sports training resource and genetic types for sports gifts rating, progress forecasting and selection purposes.
Methods and structure of the study. We sampled for the tests potentially sports gifted children and run the study at Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sports and Health (Saint Petersburg). The sports gifts of the sample were tested on an integrated basis to rate anthropometric characteristics, psychological and physiological qualities, sports training resource and genetic types for sports gifts rating, progress forecasting and selection purposes. The sports gifts rating model was piloted in primary selections under the Become a Champion Project.
Results and conclusion. In view of the specifics of the test tools, they need to be grouped into clusters on a sound scientific basis to excel the classified toolkits for efficiency. The sports gift rating model was practically tested in primary selections under the Become a Champion Project.
