Abstract
Objective of the study was to test benefits of a new beach volleyball technical training model with a special emphasis on the attack skills.
Methods and structure of the study. The experimental technical training model includes a set of spike training tools dominated by the step-by-step sequential training toolkit including the so-called motor coordination ladder designed to automate the in-run stride pacing and timing for success of the spike. We also used in the step-by-step jump trainings a special pedestal to improve the body mass center control in the attack sequence. The new technical training model was piloted and tested by the MEI University’s women’s beach volleyball team (n=16) split up into Experimental and Control group. The groups were trained for 2 months, with the Experimental group trainings complemented by the new technical training model with 12 trainings twice a week; whilst the Control group trainings were standard.
Results and conclusion. The new technical training model was tested beneficial as verified by a significant progress of the Experimental versus Control group in the attack skills, particularly in the in-run and jump controls, with a special contribution from the step-by-step sequential training toolkit.
