Objective of the study was to conduct an analysis of means of preventing overweight and obesity in children and adolescents.
Results and conclusions. Obesity has been shown to be a multifactorial disease that occurs as a result of the interaction of nongenetic and genetic causes. Important causes of obesity are the intake of excess calories from food with reduced physical activity, as well as hereditary predisposition. Timely prevention of obesity, starting from childhood, helps to minimize the negative factors contributing to the development of this disease and preserves the health of the younger generation.
The main and effective means of preventing obesity and overweight are physical activity, balanced nutrition and getting rid of negative eating habits.
